Light Mode

Light Mode is quick, consumes less disk space,  and uses an encrypted local storage of your private keys. It does not require a local copy of the blockchain.

If you do not require Private Transactions or Private Messaging, we recommend that you only use Light Mode.

You may perform t-address to t-address transactions (t to t).

Full Mode

Full Mode is intended for advanced users who require Private Transaction or Private Messages.

Full Mode users must be comfortable with their private keys being stored in an unencrypted wallet.dat file located on their desktop computer. Users of Full Mode must appropriate steps to insure the physical and electronic security of the data stored on their machines.

See Figure 2.

Changing back to Light Mode does not re-encrypt your private keys.

We recommend that if you ever use Full Mode that any future addresses be created ONLY in Full Mode. This will prevent some possible wallet issues and avoid unnecessary and time-consuming re-scans of the blockchain.

Full Mode enables the blockchain while the app is open. While in Full Mode, you may perform any type of transaction or private messaging, including t to t, t to z, z to t, z to z transactions. See Transaction Types for more information.

Click the Settings icon to change to Full Mode, if desired.

See Figure 3.

The first time you enable Full Mode, you will be asked to acknowledge that your private keys will be stored in an an unencrypted file. Switching back to Light Mode does NOT re-encrypt your private keys.

See Figure 4.

WARNING!

Do not run Sphere in Full Mode at the same time as the HorizenDesktop WalletGUI (Swing wallet, GUI wallet, etc). There is a strong possibility of corrupting the blockchain. For the same reason, do not run multiple instances of Sphere.
