Sphere 6.4 - Clean Installation Of Sphere

If you wish to reinstall Sphere, while preserving your wallets and blockchain (full mode), follow these instructions.

Quit Sphere

If using full mode, determine that no instance of zend is running. If so kill the zend process.

•  macOS - use Activity Manager

•  Windows -  use Task Manager

•  Linux - use System Monitor or equivalent, or command line

If there is a database directory (folder) within the sphereDatadir directory delete it. That is a symptom that zend did not shutdown properly if running from full mode.

Delete Sphere by Horizen folder

Windows

%appdata%\Sphere by Horizen

macOS

~/Library/Application Support/Sphere by Horizen


Linux

~/Sphere by Horizen

Delete zend folder (Full Mode)

Windows

•  %appdata%\horizen\zend

macOS

•  ~/Library/Application Support/horizen/zend

Linux

•  ~/.horizen/zend

Delete ZcashParams folder (Full Mode)

Windows

•  %appdata%\ZcashParams

macOS

•  ~/Library/Application Support/ZcashParams

Linux

•  ~/.horizen/.zcash-params

Download Sphere

For Windows users, the following:

  • Confirm that Sphere is not running

  • From the "Start" menu, search "Control Panel"

  • Click "Open" or hit <enter>

  • Click on "Uninstall a program" under "Programs"

  • Locate and select "Sphere by Horizen" from the list of programs

  • Click "Uninstall" and follow the onscreen prompts to remove the program

  • Run the installer for Sphere, it will automatically uninstall previously installed version

  • Login to your account normally

For MacOS users, the following:

  • Confirm that Sphere is not running

  • Open the Sphere *.dmg file to your Desktop

  • Double click the .dmg file

  • Within the open window for the .dmg file, drag the Sphere by Horizen.app application to the Applications Folder (alias).

  • If told an item names "Sphere by Horizen.app" already exists, choose the "Replace" button

  • Login to your account normally

For Linux users, the following:

  • Confirm that Sphere is not running

  • Run the installer for Sphere, it will automatically uninstall previously installed version.

  • Login to your account normally

If using Full Mode (for all versions):

  • Wait for it to finish "Downloading proving keys...", afterward it will start to "Connecting to Blockchain..."
